Arizona Water Sources

- Arizona Department of Water Resources. This state agency has jurisdiction over much of Arizona’s surface and groundwater resources. The site includes extensive information on surface and groundwater basins, water management issues, a searchable version of the Groundwater Site Inventory (GWSI) database, and agency contacts.
- Arizona Water Banking Authority. The AWBA web page supplies information on recent announcements about the Water Bank, biographies of the Authority members, links to Water Bank publications, the history of the Water Bank and links to other related web sites. The “Bank Ledger” section contains both planned and actual delivery tables and graphs for the entire state, AMAs, and irrigation districts
- Arizona Water Protection Fund. The AWPF web page provides details on the projects funded by the Water Protection Fund, as well as recent announcements, the history of the Water Protection Fund and information on the Water Protection Fund Commissioners. The funded projects are in a database that can be searched, or project summaries can be selected by clicking on a map of the state.
- AZMET. The Arizona Meteorologial Network (AZMET) has been in operation since 1986 providing weather data and information to agricultural and horticultural interests of the state.
- Center for Sustainability of semi-Arid Hydrology and Riparian Areas (SAHRA) – SAHRA’s purpose is to inform and support such water professionals by conducting stakeholder-relevant research, education, and knowledge transfer activities. Consequently, SAHRA has a dual mission: 1) to identify critical stakeholder-relevant knowledge gaps and conduct basin-focused multidisciplinary research to fill them; and 2) to convey what is known and what is being learned to improve water management and policy.
- Department of Hydrology and Water Resources, The University of Arizona. Information regarding the Department’s graduate and undergraduate programs, along with current research efforts
- Department of Soil, Water and Environmental Science, The University of Arizona. Information regarding the Department’s graduate and undergraduate programs, along with current research efforts
- Engineering Research Center for Environmentally Benign Semiconductor Manufacturing (ERC)
- Master Watershed Steward. Educates and trains citizens across the state of Arizona to serve as volunteers in the protection, restoration, monitoring, and conservation of their water and watersheds.
- Salt River Project. Site provides information on the history and operation of SRP’s extensive water and power delivery infrastructure.
- Southwest Watershed Research Center. Conducts basic and applied research in global change, hydrology and water resources, erosion and sedimentation, water quality, and development of improved decision support systems.
- U.S.G.S. Arizona Water Science Center . Real-time and historic stream-flow data, publications, bibliographies and links to water resource sites and data.
- Verde Watershed. Information regarding the management and conservation efforts within the watershed. Includes extensive G.I.S. content.
- Water Quality Center (WQC) – The mission of the W-Q-C is to conduct research that evaluates physical, chemical, and microbial processes that affect the quality of surface and subsurface waters utilized for potable supplies.
- NIWR: National Institutes For Water Resources. This site is a gateway to each of the 54 Water Resources Institutes/Centers.
- National Project WET. Water Education for Teachers. Promotes awareness, appreciation, knowledge, and stewardship of water resources through the development and dissemination of classroom-ready teaching aids
- Powell Consortium. Information on the alliance of seven Water Resources Centers and Institutes (AZ, CA, CO, NM, NV, UT & WY) that cooperate on water issues related to the Colorado River and Great Basin.
- USGS: United States Geological Survey water resources home page. This site includes extensive water related data, databases, and publications. The National Water Data Exchange (NAWDEX) and Selected Water Resource Abstracts (SWRA) can be accessed from this location.
- UWIN: Universities Water Information Network. This site maintains WaterTalk, a forum for those interested in exchanging ideas and information. The site also has an expertise directory and employment listings.
- Water Infrastructure, Supply, & Planning Study. A City of Tucson and Pima County Cooperative Project. This project will progress in an iterative manner. All draft and final study documents will be forwarded to the committee and posted on this website prior to each meeting. All groups and individuals on the study mailing list also will be notifed of the opportunity to comment on study documents.
- WaterWiser: The Water Efficiency Clearinghouse. A water efficiency discussion forum, publications database, and links to water efficiency companies are highlights of this site.
- Western Waters Digital Library provides access to water-related resources regarding the Western United States that includes classic water literature,government reports, legal transcripts, water project records, personal papers, photographic collections, and audio/video materials associated with the major river basins of the west.
